On the ground for Altra to cover their 4 person team at Western States in 2023. WSER is a special race and our goal to showcase the emotions that go along with the event. There were individual athlete and recap videos and photography.
WSER is a grueling race for both athletes and suport/camera crews. The race starts around 5am and I climbed up to Encarpment starting around 3 am with the camera gear to be in the best position when they crested the top with a sunrise backdrop. As the athletes pass by you have 2 hours to run down the mountain and drive to the next aid station. This chasing happens for 14-15 hours straight if you are following a professional athlete.
